I’m a firm believer in women needing women. I know the recent new century “alpha” females want to stand on their own and I say good for them. As for me, I have always had women in my life and what great examples they were.
However, I never had sisters, I’m an only child. I did have cousins and as I grew up best friends. You need women in your circle who are loyal, trustworthy and fun.
A person who you can call on at 3:00am and cry about your heartbreak. Only women really understand women. Men are still trying to figure it out. (Bless their hearts).
Women need to sit face to face ever so often over a cheese board and a glass of wine. We need to talk, laugh and sometimes cry. We need to build up and encourage one another.
A sisterhood to me is beautiful, especially when it’s not toxic. If you read The Family Man, you have met the sisters who are known as the Spice Girls. Anise, Sage, Cassia and Rosemary. You may even relate to one of them. I ask each reader which sister do you relate to the most? Their answers vary but the end result is the same, they, like me love the girls’ sisterhood.
The Spice Girls are different but each of their personalities complement the other. They are never competing over anything just enjoying each other. Lifting one another up when they are down. Women remind each other that we are special, that we also suffer from the same flaws. We are plagued by the same thoughts, be it insecurity or stress.
Love holds the bonds of a sisterhood tighter. Love motivates us to want to be better friends/sisters. It’s why we bring our boyfriends to meet our friends. We know that our real friend will see things that you may not have seen. Green flags, red flags…our friends will see it. Who do you talk to when you had the best *clears throat* intimate experience? We talk to our sisters, or girl friends.
I love being a woman, and I love writing about beautiful black women who fall in love. Oh, did your eyebrow raise when I said the word “black”? That’s ok. You see in media black women are always the side kick, the best friend, the comic relief but never the main character. In a KT ADLER book, she and her friends are going to be enwrapped in main character energy. However, that is a blog for another time.
If you have a group of friends, here is your sign to organize a wine night or cake break.
We need each other’s support, and that’s on period. Women need women, we need sisterhood…. but not the toxic kind lol. No, just the kind that makes you feel safe, welcome and happy.
Until Till Next time
XOXO

I loved your sprinkles and spice series. I need to know what happen to the fourth sisters, the Doctor and her children.
